Good thread, smiddy!
Thank you, et al., for this info.
well that`s what was impressed on me to differentiate between the true religion and false religion , when i was converted in 1960 , do they still claim that ?
believing that they still do , i will say this.. what about ,:the governing body who definitely are set apart from the rank and file for their attitude towards the r&f , but also from the attitude of the r&f towards the governing body members.many do seem to idolise gb members by their actions , and the gb members dont seem to discourage that.. and not only for their attitude , how about their life-style , being housed in bethel with all the mod -cons of modern civilization as opposed to a r&f member living in a third world country .does the wt society do anything to make their lifestyle improve ?
{ did jesus have a place to rest his head ?

My first time in service -- 1967 -- was in San Francisco.
I was shaking, from the fog and/or nervousness, while giving my first presentation of the WT and Awake!
an old friend of mine committed suicide this week.
he was a great guy; pleasant to be around, a hard worker, kind.
everybody at work liked him.. then something changed.
I'm very sorry, stillin.
We all have had the same experience and it is so painful. Yes, we all "shun."
I have more to add, but later . . .
Blessings and peace.

Sorry, Tallon -- I misunderstood!
You did not request a jingle . . .

A COOL SENSE OF TRANQUILITY CALMS MY TROUBLED SPIRIT.
I emerge slowly from a deeply entrenched nightmare and proceed into quiet wakefulness and gentle reverie. I peer out my window. Youthful ideals, embodied in vaporous form on the street below, are a black reminiscence of former hopes and desires that have fallen off me like a worn suit of clothes. I shut out the insistent voices that beg me return to comfortable and safe imprisonment of heart, mind, soul.
I leave my room and go outside. I see but darkly my amorphous shadow -- it is a phantom, not the real me. From behind scudding clouds emerges an awakened moon that illumes my way and shows inner turmoil in a light that is new.
A shadow of the risen dead, cast upon the asphalt by a gracious moon, shall be my companion . . .
jehovah's witnesses post 'anti-gay' 'harness your habits' leaflet in north devon.
devon and cornwall police have said a leaflet posted through doors in north devon isn't a crime – despite it advising gay people to "control their urges".the leaflet, entitled "how to harness your habits", was distributed in north devon by jehovah's witnesses and contains an article asking "what does the bible say about homosexuality?
"in it, the religious group states that "rejecting homosexuality" is completely different to "rejecting people of a different skin colour" and says their views are the same as people who "view smoking as harmful and even repugnant".it also compares gay people to animals, but says "unlike animals, they can choose not to act on their impulses".the journal was contacted by a reader, who wishes to remain anonymous, who felt "belittled" by the leaflet.

Is the term you seek NPG (non practicing gay)?

After being unable to access the forum for some 24 hours, it's great seeing your posts, scratchme, bsmart, and arwen!
Yes, arwen, so very sad about Grace. We're not wimps, bsmart (are we?!?!?!?).
Gratefully . . .
if anyone had any issues accessing the site over the last 24 hours or so, i finally tracked it down to a dns issue that was affecting users of google dns in certain zones.
the issue was caused by a rouge dnssec entry left by the registrar (godaddy) when they did an update which caused some dns lookups to fail.. hopefully it should be fixed now but may take a while to ripple through to everyone due to caching..
Thanks, Simon, for figuring this out.
Just now able to access, Northern California. I don't understand the terminology, but I can Google it.

SLEEP SHALL COME, perhaps not today,
But soon, an eternal, blessed slumber
That bids farewell to suffering that even
True love, in no measure, can assuage.
Why such anguish, borne upon once broad
Shoulders that now do sag, no longer able
To withstand the weight of both our worlds?
Come, O Sleep, on velvet wings of night.
